1. Agreement
These terms are between you and Starlight AI Inc. ("we", "us"). Using ATLAS means you accept them. If you do not, do not use ATLAS.
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract where you live.
2. What ATLAS does
ATLAS connects to accounts you already have, reads them, and tells you what your money is doing — where it goes, what repeats, what is due, and what you could do about it.
ATLAS is read-only. It cannot move money, make a payment, open or close an account, or change anything at your bank. Where it suggests moving money — before a card statement is due, for instance — that is a suggestion for you to act on, in your own banking app. ATLAS does not act on your behalf, ever.
ATLAS is offered to people in the United States and connects to US bank and card accounts. You must be at least 18.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your device and for keeping your password and PIN to yourself. ATLAS requires two factors — your password, then a six-digit PIN — and you may add a passkey on your device as a third. If you confirm an email address you can reset a forgotten password from it; we cannot reset your PIN, and we cannot sign in as you, which also means we cannot let anyone else.
Do not share your account. Do not try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to break the law.
4. ATLAS is not financial advice
This is the most important section here.
ATLAS is an information tool. Nothing it shows you or says to you is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and we are not your adviser, broker, or fiduciary. We are not licensed to give investment advice and we do not give it.
Specifically, ATLAS and its assistant:
- will not recommend, rank or endorse any security, fund, ticker, crypto asset, or asset allocation, and will not tell you to buy or sell an investment — even if you ask directly;
- will not give tax or legal advice;
- will help with budgeting, spending, saving, debt payoff and cash flow, which is what it is for.
These are not just promises in a document. They are enforced in the assistant's instructions and covered by automated tests that run on every change. If you want advice on investments, tax, or your legal position, speak to someone licensed to give it.
Every decision you make with ATLAS is yours. Check anything that matters against your own bank before acting on it.
5. The assistant
The assistant is built on a large language model. It is given your computed figures and is instructed never to calculate its own, never to guess, and to say plainly when it does not have the data to answer. It still may be wrong, incomplete, or misunderstand you.
Treat what it says as a starting point, not a verdict. Do not rely on it alone for a decision that matters.
6. Your data, and other people's services
How we handle your data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
ATLAS depends on services we do not control:
- Plaid connects to your bank. Your use of that connection is also subject to Plaid's own terms and privacy policy.
- Anthropic provides the model behind the assistant. Using the assistant sends a summary of your finances — no name, email, phone, or account numbers — to Anthropic to generate a reply.
- Expo delivers push notifications.
- Stripe takes the subscription payment. Your card details go to Stripe and are never seen by ATLAS.
- Vercel, Neon and Amazon Web Services host the service, the database, the key that seals bank tokens, and the mail we send you.
If one of these is unavailable, part of ATLAS will not work, and that is outside our control.
7. Accuracy
The figures in ATLAS come from your banks by way of Plaid. They can be delayed, incomplete, mis-categorised, or simply wrong at the source, and pending transactions change. Balances shown may not match your bank at that moment.
Where ATLAS estimates something rather than reading it, it says so — an inferred due date, or income averaged from deposits when no regular paycheque was found. Take those as estimates.
Your bank is the source of truth. ATLAS is not.
8. No warranty, and the limits of what we owe you
ATLAS is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything it tells you is accurate or suitable for your situation.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost savings, or financial decisions you make using ATLAS. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months, or CAD $100.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited — including, in some places, your rights as a consumer.
9. Subscription
Exploring ATLAS with sample data is free. Connecting your own bank and card accounts requires a subscription. The price and billing period are shown on the checkout page before you are charged; the subscription renews at that interval until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from Settings in the app, which takes you to your billing page. Cancelling stops the next charge; your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund a period already begun, except where the law requires it.
Payment is taken by Stripe, by card, in your browser. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax, which is added where it applies. If we change the price we will tell you in the app before the new price takes effect.
10. Ending it
You can stop at any time: disconnect a bank, or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your financial data, as described in the privacy policy.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, misuse the service, or if we stop offering it. If we shut ATLAS down we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data first.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights or what we do with your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect — not quietly, and not only here. Continuing to use ATLAS after that means you accept the change.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
[Confirm with your lawyer. If you take US users — which the Plaid application does — you may want an arbitration clause and a class-action waiver, which are common in US consumer terms and have their own rules. That is a decision to make deliberately, not to inherit from a template.]
